March is National Listening Awareness Month. Take about 5 minutes. Sit outside, in your home, at school. And just listen. Be aware of everything you can hear, whether it's birds chirping, a car zooming down your street, a snow plow - or a snowball fight, or classmates talking (you probably should do this during lunch or recess, not during class).
Note: If you live somewhere cold, you probably should try doing this adventure inside. Either that or bundle up!
Then, write down everything you just heard. Make a list of at least 15 things; maybe even 20. You will be surprised by everything you hear when you just pay attention. When you write you want to ignite all of your senses. And this is a fun way to practice. Happy Writing!
